Sexual Harassment Claims in Oklahoma State

The law protects the person being harassed, regardless of whether the person is male, female or of the same sex as the harasser.  It can include very subtle behaviors such as comments, looks or gestures that occur over time representing an ongoing course of conduct. Sexual harassment occurs when rejection of the person committing the acts explicitly or implicitly affects an individual's employment or work environment.

Often times the persons engaging in the behaviors are themselves not aware of it.  Other times, they are clearly aware but believe that they have the right to engage in context-inappropriate behavior.

Employers, or their agents (meaning supervisors) may not condition or negotiate terms of employment such as raises or bonuses of any kind, in exchange for sexual favors. Employers may not create or allow supervisors and coworkers to make comments or "overtures" which create an environment that, because of pervasive or severe sexual harassing conduct, begins to intimidate you or create what is called a "hostile work environment".
